  All Day Canal Pride Days Saturday   This Saturday, The C&O Canal Trust, in partnership with the C&O Canal National Historical Park, is hosting our 5th annual Canal Pride Days! Our last event will be held at Oldtown/Lock 70. Volunteers will help revitalize and restore the park by participating in projects such as, painting, removing vegetation, replacing grills, and straightening bollards/waysides.
This event will help prep the area for the Battie-Mixon fishing rodeo, where thousands of kids come out to fish. Advanced registration is required at www.Canaltrust.org.
 
  All Day We've Got Talent Deadline   May 1, 4PM is the Deadline to enter Canal Place’s third annual “We've Got Talent” competition, a month-long talent show that will showcase some of the tri-state area's finest performers, who will be vying for the grand prize of $1,000 and a spot in the ArtsFest 2012 line-up in September.
Prizes will also be awarded to the acts that finish in the second ($500) and third ($250) places. If you’ve got talent, we’re looking for you!
To enter, submit your completed registration form and waiver, found at www.canalplace.org, along with your $20 registration fee and a sample of your work. All registration forms, fees and sample works must be received in the Canal Place offices by 4PM on Tuesday, May 1.   All Day FSU Event   May 1, 8PM The FSU Dept. of Music presents the Guitar Studio & Ensemble Recital in the Pealer Recital Hall of FSU’s Performing Arts Center. This performance is free and open to the public. For more information, contact the FSU Department of Music at 301-687-4109.
 
  All Day The F. Brooke Whiting Museum & House Tours   May-October The F. Brooke Whiting House & Museum, located at 632 Washington Street in Cumberland, will host tours of the museum on the 2nd & 4th Friday & Saturday of each month. Tours are at 2PM & 3PM. Groups of eight to fifteen may schedule tours at other times. For more information, call the Historical Society at 301-777-8678.
 
  6:45PM 9:00PM DivorceCare Support Group   The Lighthouse of Hope Assembly of God Church will begin a DivorceCare Support Group, Feb. through May 1 from 6:45 - 9 pm. The group is a 13 week curriculum and will meet every Tuesday at the church. DivorceCare is a video seminar series and will be combined with support group discussion of the material presented. The support group is free and open to anyone who is currently separated or divorced. To register please call (301) 729-2603.
 
  6:00PM 8:30PM Mini-Med School   Mini-Med School is returning this May! Allegany College of Maryland invites everyone to attend these free mini-med school sessions. Local experts will speak on a variety of issues affecting our families. Take this free opportunity to learn what is happening in health and medicine. Join us on Tuesdays this May; starting on May 1st until May 22nd, from 6:00-8:30 pm in the college center theater. Even though mini-med is free, registration is required.
