  All Day Fort Hill Scholarship Fund Magic Show   The Fort Hill Scholarship Fund will hold a Magic Show, hosting illusionists Rhett Wolford and Lisa Conklin, on May 19, at Fort Hill. The show begins at 7:00 p.m., with doors opening at 5:45 p.m. Tickets to the one-night event are on sale at advanced sale prices at The Book Centre in Downtown Cumberland and at Fort Hill's Main Office, during school hours.
Ticket prices at the door will be higher. This is not just a magic show for children. It's a night of magic that will entertain all ages. For additional information, please visit www.forthillscholarshipfund.org.
 
  All Day Cumberland Lions Chicken Barbecue   at the White Oaks Shopping Center on Saturday, May 19th from 11am until sold out. Large half a chicken, potato salad and a roll will be $7.00.
The event proceeds will benefit the club’s many community projects. The Cumberland Lions main area of service revolves around sight conservation programs including providing eyeglasses for those in need, vision screening of pre- schoolers, the Leader Dog Program and support of the Wilmer Eye Institute. Cumberland Lions also support the Boy Scouts, the Hot Stove League, and the Cumberland Marbles tournament along with other community organizations.
 
  All Day Dance at the Oakland Elks   The Oakland Elks and the Oakland/Mt. Lake Park Lions Club are having a joint fund raiser featuring "The Remedy" this Saturday night at the Elks Hall. The doors open at 7:00 and music and dancing will be from 8:00 until midnight.
Tickets are $15 a person and can be purchased from Lions members, at the Elks Lodge, Family Rental Center, First United Insurance, Gregg's Pharmacy, Midway Discount Beverage and Helbig Insurance.
Tickets at the door will be $20 a person. There will be a cash bar and gaming.
These two organizations donate and contribute over $55,000 each year to over 60 youth groups, the needy, fire & rescue organizations, and scholarships.

Class of 2012 has partnered with the Cumberland Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 90 to hold the 1st Annual Rock 'n Roast to benefit Jane's Place, Inc. This event will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2012 from 1:00-6:00PM at the FOP Lodge 90 Picnic Grounds in Cumberland. Proceeds from the event go to Jane's Place, Inc. - Allegany County Child Advocacy Center. Jane's Place exists to help children who have suffered from physical and sexual abuse and neglect. More information can be found on their website at www.janesplaceinc.com. Tickets for the event are $25/person or $40/couple and are good for All-You-Can-Eat-and-Drink on a menu of pulled pork, fried chicken, sides, desserts, beer, soft drinks, and iced tea. Dave Caporale will be providing live entertainment throughout the day and local bands THAD, Transcending, Shadowburn, and Catch22 will perform. A Chinese auction will be held with chances to win some great products from our local businesses. Local businesses are also encouraged to make tax-deductible, corporate donations.
